Chairperson of California Valley Miwok Tribe (CVMT)


Tribal Chairwoman Antoinette Del Rio is an inspiring leader currently serving as Treasurer of the Central California Tribal Chairperson Association (CCTCA).
 
As the Tribal Chairwoman of the California Valley Miwok Tribe, a federally recognized tribe since 1916, Antoinette brings valuable experience to her role. She has been an active member of the tribal council since 2015 and stepped into the position of Chairwoman in 2023 with visions to empower and uplift her community.
 
Chairwoman Del Rio has deep roots in Indian Country.  At a young age she passionately embraced her Miwuk culture as a traditional dancer.  Her commitment to advocacy led her to a leadership position at TANF (Temporary Assistance for Native Families), where she served as the Education Director.  In this position Antoinette was responsible for overseeing 18 sites for a total of eight impactful years. Currently in addition to her responsibilities as Chairwoman, Antoinette serves as the Director of Indian Education for Amador and El Dorado Counties.  There, Antoinette spearheads initiatives that nurture and support Native students.
 
Chairwoman Del Rio embraces her multifaceted roles and is an active participant in several key organizations, including:
– ATCAA (Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency)
– ILT (Inter Leadership Teams)
– Amador Cultural Committee
-Amador Child Care Council
 
Her dedication and leadership shine through in all her efforts.  Antoinette consistently works to advance the interests of her community and promote cultural heritage.
